Barstyčiai became famous due to the biggest stone of Puokė in Lithuania brought by glaciers from the southwest of Finland 13 – 14 thousand years ago and found in the post-war years in the village of Puokė and excavated by a meliorators in 1958. It consists of coarse-grained granite (length 13. 4 m, height – 3.6 m, width – 7.5 m, weight – approx. 680 t). Vessel-shaped boulder of Puokė is entered in the Book of records of Lithuania and declared as geological natural object.
