Saulius Bareikis is a well-known Lithuanian actor who began his career at the Šiauliai Drama Theatre and has acted at the State Youth Theatre in Vilnius for over 20 years. He has created many memorable roles (in the plays "Harold and Fashion", "People Live Here", etc.). He was recognized as the best male actor of the 1978–1979 season (Tarelkin in Suchov-Kobylin's play "Tarelkin's Death", staged at the Šiauliai Drama Theatre). Although he has also acted in films - his filmography is approaching two dozen.
Now S. Bareikis more often takes to the stage to sing or, as he says, to play himself, to publicly read a few pages of his musical diary. The inspiration for his sung poetry was the great Vytautas Kernagis, and he has remained so to this day. Saulius Bareikis sings what his heart whispers – openly, sensitively and sincerely. This is not a stylistic, but a diary written in musical language. This songwriter and performer, together with colleagues Oleg Ditkovskis and the late Kostas Smoriginas, were part of the group "Actors' Trio".
In 2008, S. Bareikis' first authorial album, "Guest", was released. It contains 11 songs based on the words of poets Antanas A. Jonynas, Robertas Danis, Vytautas Mačernis, Rimvydas Stankevičius, and the bard himself.
On October 14, Saulius Bareikis will arrive in Skuodas – at 5:30 p.m., the presentation of his book of stories and drawings “Ode to a Loser” will take place at the Romuald Granauskas Public Library. The book is distinguished by its witty, unexpected twists and turns in the narrative style, proving that S. Bareikis is not only a talented actor, author of plays, scripts and songs, but also a gifted storyteller. In addition to the author, the presentation of this book will be attended by its publisher – the head of the publishing house “Slinktys”, poet Juozas Žitkauskas. Of course, a meeting with a famous actor and bard will not pass without the songs he performs. So you should not miss this opportunity.
