On June 23 at 7 p.m., painter Rožė Galvelienė invites you to an exhibition of her works at the Skuodas R. Granauskas Library.
The understanding of art, culture, the importance of science, and spiritual life was instilled in them by their parents. In the family, sisters and brothers drew beautifully, songs and music sounded at home... Dad led the song, mom agreed, the violin, skuduti, and accordion sounded in agreement. And everyone participated in song festivals in Vilnius together.
Art surrounded us in everyday life, there were many books about art at home, including "Lithuanian Folk Art", which provided an opportunity to learn about the symbolism of national art. A favorite activity was to leaf through albums of reproductions by MK Čiurlionis, A. Samuolis, P. Kalpokas, K. Šimonis, J. Švažas. The house was decorated with white linen tablecloths embroidered by my mother and sisters with white, blue patterns and ornaments of tulips, lilies, etc. Brother Aloyzas created a wonderfully designed living room with his own hands - a fireplace of broken stones, a lot of natural wood, gave the house a feeling of otherness and coziness.
Although Rožė Galvelienė did not choose a professional path in the field of art, creativity has always remained an important part of her life. For several years, the artist has been attending the art studio of painter Gintaras Zubris, where she found a space for free self-expression and the search for a unique artistic style. R. Galvelienė is an active participant in plein airs, exhibitions of works by studio creators in the studio and in the sports museum in Kaunas. Rožė has always been interested in Lithuanian folk art, encoded symbols in fabric and ribbon patterns, therefore she often participates in craft workshops in Kelmė, Kernavė, and Vilnius.
Rožė is convinced: Lithuanians are creative, talented, curious and hardworking people!
