The famous Lithuanian songwriter and performer Darius Žvirblis was born and raised in Klaipėda. Although he graduated from Klaipėda Secondary School No. 18 (currently Baltic Gymnasium) with a silver medal and entered Klaipėda University, where he studied maritime economics, he became interested in music while still finishing the eleventh grade, and began composing his own songs in 1992. While studying in his first year, he met like-minded people Eduardas Galuškinas and Maksimas Borisenko and formed a group called "Bemoliai", whose repertoire included cover versions of popular songs at the time - "The Beatles", "The Rolling Stones", "Stone Temple Pilots", "Nirvana", "REM", "The Doors" and several original compositions by Darius and Eduardas. "Bemoliai" performed in apartment buildings, bars, and dormitories. In 1996, after leaving the group to one of the leaders and founders - E. Galuškinas, it disbanded. But D. Žvirblis and M. Borisenko decided to continue their musical activities, renaming the group “Atika”. During its 16 years of existence, the composition changed many times. Darius Žvirblis was the only permanent member of this group. Before its disbandment in 2012, about ten albums were recorded. The first solo works, which later became part of the “Atika” studio albums, are considered demo recordings of the songs “Laimė Argentinoj”, “Iš Geto Nr.3”, “Į Las Vegą”, “Indigo Vaikams”. D. Žvirblis recorded them in his home studio in 2008–2011 and published them on the Internet portal dpoezija.lt. Several of “Atika”’s works appeared on various recording collections under the name of Darius Žvirblis, although these were not songs recorded specifically for these projects.
D. Žvirblis began recording a solo album at the end of 2011, when Remigijus Motiejauskas left "Atika". No longer realizing his ideas in this group, Darius Žvirblis began to experiment and look for suitable arrangements for new songs. In 2011–2014, four songs that were once on the "Atika" playlist were recorded for the solo project. D. Žvirblis was helped to record them by a newly formed team called "Mountain Eagles". At the end of 2013, this group began a 30-concert tour, during which the last collection of unpublished songs of the now-defunct "Atika" was presented, "Dešimt Metų Vienatvės". It includes songs prepared for various "Atika" albums, but never released, as well as "rejected" versions of well-known songs. In 2013–2014 D. Žvirblis played almost 100 concerts in Lithuania with "Mountain Eagles".
At the end of 2014, the members of "Atika" who had reunited decided not to revive the group, but Darius invited his friends and former comrades to contribute to the recording of a small-scale solo album. In January–September 2015, the six-song album "Pudelis už borto" was recorded at the Kretinga Franciscan Youth Service studio. It was released on October 18, 2015. And in November–December 2015, Darius Žvirblis, together with the changed line-up of "Kalnų Ereliai", set off on a 20-concert album presentation tour. In January 2016, D. Žvirblis announced an additional 30-concert acoustic tour. It took place in February–April.
On September 3, Darius Žvirblis will be available to listen to at the Romualdas Granauskas Public Library of the Skuodas District Municipality, where the penultimate event from the cycle "The Sound of Words" will take place.
